Cricklewood is a district of North London, the northeastern part is within the London Borough of Barnet; the western part is in within the London Borough of Brent and southeastern part is within London Borough of Camden. The nearest London Underground stations with links into central London are Willesden Green, Kilburn and West Hampstead on the Jubilee Line; and Cricklewood Railway station takes about 15 minutes to Kings Cross St Pancras.
It was not until the 20th century that Cricklewood became an industrial and commercial centre. Until then, it was simply a gateway with a handful of cottages providing facilities for coach travellers. During the 20th century, its large Victorian properties were slowly removed and a range of shops and houses were built along Cricklewood Lane. This was the beginning of suburban Cricklewood as we know it today.
Today Cricklewood is a mixed area of both commercial and residential properties including a large retail park. The area consists of many Victorian terraced properties, impressive Edwardian properties in the wide leafy avenues near Gladstone Park such as Anson Road and Oman Avenue and a number of conversions and purpose built blocks.
Cricklewood Broadway is a busy thoroughfare as it is an entry and exit point to access the North Circular. It has many restaurants, shops, a large B and Q and popular Bingo Hall.
