| Beneficiary | A person benefiting under a Will or intestacy |
| Executors | The person or persons you appoint to handle what you own (your estate) after you have died. |
| Intestacy | Describes the estate of a person who has died without leaving a valid Will or any Will at all. |
| Joint Ownership | Where two or more people own an asset jointly, in equal or unequal shares. |
| Joint Tenancy | Ownership of an asset in equal shares where the survivor is automatically entitled to the whole asset on the death of the other joint owner. |
| Life Interest | An absolute right to the income but not the capital of an asset. |
| Partner | A person with whom you are living but to whom you are not married, also known as a "common law husband/wife" |
| Remainder | A right to the capital of an asset that is subject to the life interest of another person. |
| Revoke | To cancel a Will. |
| Sibling | A word which describes either a brother or sister. |
| Spouse | A word which describes either a husband or wife. |
| Survivorship | The automatic right of a joint tenant to inherit the whole of an asset on the death of the other joint tenant. |
| Tenency in Common | Joint ownership, can be in unequal shares, but where the right of survivorship does not exist. |
| Testator | A person who makes a Will. |
