Mapesbury is a unique residential area in North West London, bordered by Kilburn, Cricklewood and Willesden Green. Mapesbury Estate history

Together with the Willesden part of Kilburn, Brondesbury and Mapesbury used to belong to St.Paul's Cathedral in medieval times. Mapesbury (named after Walter Map, an early medieval priest) lies north of Mapes (later Willesden) Lane, and Brondesbury ('Brand's manor') to the south. Their history is closed related with Kilburn.

Mapesbury Estate food and drink

The restaurants and bars of Kilburn, West Hampstead and Willesden Green are popular with Mapesbury residents. The North London Tavern is a popular Kilburn pub and Ariana II serve Afghan cuisine and have a BYOB policy.

Excellent West Hampstead restaurants include The Mill Lane Bistro, La Brocca and the Wet Fish Cafe.

Mapesbury Estate shopping

Kilburn is the closest shopping destination with an extensive high street containing a mix of high street names, independent shops and a lively market. Kilburn High Road has many independent grocers, butchers and a fishmonger, all who sell a range of exciting produce. There are also two large supermarkets in the area.

Mapesbury Dell is North West London's best kept secret. It's an award-winning park that is often described as a truly magical garden. It's run by the community and open to the public during daylight hours.
