Paramount Properties What does the next lockdown mean for buying, selling, renting, and moving home?

What does the next lockdown mean for buying, selling, renting, and moving home?

It was announced over the weekend that a second lockdown will take place from this Thursday 5 November to Wednesday 2 December. So how will it affect you?

As it stands, the housing market in England will remain open and business closures will not include estate agents.

Housing Secretary Robert Jenrick was quick to confirm on Twitter that renters and homeowners will still be able to move. Removal firms will still be able to operate and tradespeople will still be able to enter homes.

"But all must follow the Covid safety guidance."

What will change?

Our office will continue to be closed to the public, and our team will continue to be fully operational. The only change for us is that we'll be moving more of our staff to work from home. We don't expect there to be any disruptions in service, but we do ask that you please be patient with us during the shift if there are any hiccups!

What if I'm searching for my next property?

If you're searching for your next home, whether to buy or to rent, we'll continue to encourage you to do your first round of viewings online. We record a unique, interactive style of video tour for every property!

In person viewings will still be allowed. To prepare for a viewing, we'll request that current residents or the seller vacate the property whenever possible. We'll keep surfaces clean and sanitised, and open doors ahead of time.

We'll ask that you wear a mask where appropriate, observe safe social distancing and follow government guidelines when it comes to household mixing. We'll also ask that you refrain from touching anything in the property as we'll be wearing the appropriate PPE and will be happy to move objects for you.

I'm a resident with Paramount - what if there's an issue with my property?

If you're already a resident with Paramount, rest assured that we will still be able to attend an appointment at your property should there be any issues or safety obligations.

As always, your first step with any maintenance issue should be to log it through our portal here. Your Property Manager will be here for you to pick it up straight away!

If you haven't already, check out our Paramount Perks programme for discounts at retailers and supermarkets - like Argos, Sainsbury's, M&S, Curry's, Tesco, and many more - where you regularly shop. You can also enter into monthly prize draws. This November the prize is a month's rent!

We're giving all of our residents access to Paramount Perks at no extra cost. We know that every little bit helps, especially in the current circumstances. We want to do everything we can to help make your life better!

At any point, if you have Covid-19 symptoms or think you may have been in contact with someone suspected to have the virus, please notify us immediately by either calling us on 020 7372 0202 or sending an email to info@paramount-properties.co.uk. We'll do everything we can to keep everyone safe!

And if you're in need of help, for example, if you need groceries and can't leave your home - please send an email to Reagan@paramount-properties.co.uk. Just as we did in the first lockdown, we want to help our community stay safe in whatever ways we can.

We would love to hear from you. Click here to let us know what you think!
