Why did you choose to live in Kilburn?
It's a busy, energetic area. Lots of people, with a real community vibe. Within 2 years, we have made so many friends through neighbours and people within the area. The Black Lion pub on Kilburn High Road is a real hub for locals. The library, too - Kilburn Library of Things is a lifesaver! So many shops, places to eat... you can't beat it.

What kind of vibe does Kilburn have?
Kilburn has a slight edge to it. It’s packed full of culture, food and people. It’s super easy to get to other little areas from here too. Queen’s Park and West Hampstead have great evening vibes if you want a short walk home!

Kilburn feels like its own mini ecosystem, with tons of local restaurants and takeaway spots. The High Street is full of options for food and drink. I love that it has so many conveniences too, not to mention the underground and overground right there and easy access to West Hampstead.
Flora, Callcott Road
How well-connected is Kilburn?
Very well connected, it has 3 tube stations which is within a reachable distance (Kilburn high road overground, Kilburn station and Brondesbury Station)

Where’s your favourite place to grab a morning coffee?
My favourite place for a morning coffee (or pastry... or dessert) is Opa Greek bakery right next to the tube. Super convenient, and some of my favourite treats.

What are your top 3 restaurants in Kilburn?
Tsehay Ethiopian - very modest and delicious. The woman who cooks everything has been making enjera bread there for 25 years. Vijay is a popular Indian, they always have a good atmosphere inside. Meze NW6 is a great Greek place where you can get enormous portions and sitting out in the summer makes you feel you're abroad.

How would you spend a Saturday in Kilburn?
I would pop into the charity shop (Crisis Kilburn always has a great selection) and then do a food shop in one of the Turkish supermarkets to get some veggies, fresh bread and jars of all sorts. I'd then go for a walk around Queen's Park, have a picnic if the weather is nice, and stop by the beautifully peaceful cemetery on the way back, if I want to extend the walk.

On a nice Saturday in Kilburn, I would head to the Paddington Recreation Ground and throw frisbee with my partner. On the walk back we may wander around the car boot sale at St. Augustine's. Then pop into The Prince of Wales' or (and) Kilburn Bridge for a pint or two before deciding if we want to get food to cook at home or have dinner out.

Where’s the best place to be if you want to outdoors?
Grange Park is a park I grew up going to my whole life, football pitch, grass, two play grounds and an outdoor gym! Also got lots of lovely pubs with outdoor seating, like the Black Lion in West Hampstead!
Paige, Glengall Road
In Kilburn, I really like Paddinton Recreation Ground. Additionally, The Old Bell has a nice year-round beer garden if you fancy a pint and watching sport.

What would you say Kilburn’s hidden gem is?
The fruit and veg shops! The sheer volume of fruit and veg and all sorts of things you’ve not had before! If you want to broaden your taste buds the high road is a great place to start!
Eleanor, Dyne Road
Maybe not so much of a secret these days but the shop Ranya. A local Iranian supermarket which offers groceries from all over the world. It is usually very difficult to find drinks, or ingredients which are normally used in countries outside of Europe, however Ranya imports from places such as Africa and the Middle-East. It is definitely worth checking out if you’re interesting in trying other countries foods or to buy authentic ingredients to make your own dishes.

Is there anything else you’d like to give a special mention to?
A few hidden gems: The Kiln Theatre has super reasonable cinema tickets. The Black Lion has not only fantastic food and drink, but also gorgeous boutique rooms for when people come to visit. And the Hilal Food Centre has baklava better than I had in Greece, as well as every type of food and spice you could imagine.
Flora, Callcott Road
Wolfpack brewery is such a blast on a summers day! I can’t recommend highly enough, plus they let you order from pizza pilgrims to have lunch with your bevvy.
