Stoke Newington is home to young professionals and families alike. The community feel makes it popular for those wishing to raise families and to have a slightly quieter pace of life from Central London. But it’s not a sleepy town by any stretch, its vibrant shops and restaurants create its own little epicentre, based around Church Street.

Given the amount of independent cafes and restaurants in Stoke Newington, and how important they are to the local community, it would be unfair to pinpoint just one or two. So take a wander down Church Street and you’ll find a plethora of places to serve you your morning caffeine!

Vicoli Di Napoli Pizzaria is almost 150 years old and has been described as ‘the best pizza in the world’. Napolese pizza at it’s finest, but everyone knows it so expect to queue. And they sell by the slice – so perfect to stop by for lunch as well.
The Rose and Crown is a traditional pub offering pub grub and a great roast dinner. In Winter the fire will be on, and the old oak interior will give you cosy Sunday vibes. If you have people visiting, they also have a guest house and 7 rooms available.

The weekends see many live bands, often up and coming, so visit one of the local venues - The Waiting Room is one of the most popular. Grab dinner at one of the restaurants above, grab a pint at The Three Crowns pre-gig and then be prepared to rock out!
Where’s the best place to be if you want to be outdoors?
Clissold Park is a large public park hosting a playground, splash pad, tennis courses, café and animal enclosure. Very popular with families – it offers a sense of calm with lots to do.
Does Stoke Newington have any hidden gems?
Abney Park is one of the ‘magnificent seven’ garden cemeteries of London. Though it might sound morbid spending a day at a cemetery, the architecture and history draw people from all over. Abney Park often even hosts live music in their grounds.
