Last month we sadly said goodbye to the wonderful Nick Dos Santos, Asset Manager and the funniest South African we've ever had the pleasure of working with. This is the message he sent us before saying farewell to move back to his home country.

"As I reflect on my time as an Asset Manager at Paramount Properties, I find myself filled with gratitude for the unique work environment and exceptional colleagues that have made my journey so fulfilling. The experience has been more than just a job, it has been an opportunity to thrive in a company that truly feels like a family. There’s a sense of trust and camaraderie here that I personally have not experience in any workplace. The office has a “family office” vibe, where everyone looks out for each other. The welcoming nature of the team made it easy to settle in and build strong relationships, both professional and personal.

Unlike many others who are solely focused on maximising profit, Paramount has a unique perspective: they believe that the property must be in the best possible condition, not because it’s a marketing strategy, but because it’s the right thing to do. It’s about the value of the property, the comfort of the tenants, and the long-term sustainability of the investment for the owner/s.

I found that transparency is another cornerstone of Paramount’s philosophy. As an asset manager, I’ve seen firsthand how the company approaches property improvements. The owners understand that work is being done not to inflate profits, but because it is necessary for the property’s ongoing value and for the benefit of everyone involved. This level of honesty and integrity is rare in the industry and made me realise that I wanted to be part of a company where I could truly make a difference.

Another rare trait that paramount offers is their ability to include all team members in the decision-making processes. This makes each team member feel valued and that they/we are part of the company’s greater vision. This is something that I will always admire.

On a more personal level, one of the greatest joys of working at Paramount is the incredible people I have met along the way. I am proud to say that I’ve built friendships that will last far beyond my time at the company. The work culture here encourages genuine connections, and it’s these relationships that make coming to work each day feel special. In finishing this off, being an Asset Manager at Paramount has been an experience that I will always cherish. The collaborative and family-like culture has not only helped me grow professionally, but it has also allowed me to forge lasting friendships and create meaningful relationships.
