Our Summer Fete raised over £1000 for Maggie's!

Maggie' s at the Royal Free is a fantastic charity that offers support to people who have been diagnosed with cancer and their families.

It's a warm and welcoming place within the Royal Free Hospital that has qualified professionals on hand to help improve the physical and emotional wellbeing of those affected by cancer. They have cancer support specialists, benefits advisors and psychologists providing free cancer support to anyone with cancer and their family and friends.

The impact of the pandemic has been huge on people with cancer. Nearly half of the people who had potential cancer symptoms in the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic did not contact their GP and 40,000 fewer people started cancer treatment across the UK in 2020.

Because of this, Maggie’s Royal Free expects to see an increase in people needing help as cancer diagnoses and treatments start to catch up after the pandemic.

Most of us here at Paramount know someone close to us who has been affected by cancer. We know how crucial it is to be able to access support that works. So we decided to make this year's annual Summer Fete about raising money for Maggie's.

On Friday last week, Kyla and Reagan put together a day to remember, filled with games and a little friendly competition. We had classic games like "Guess the baby photo" and "Match the middle name". Kyla also created some games from scratch, like this remote control obstacle course:

For some games, focus was everything...

It was the raffle that really brought in the donations - £1060 in total! We got creative with some of our prizes, including an evening out with Dexter and Ollie, and a home-cooked dinner and cocktails with Kyla.

We're pleased to be able to donate this money to a cause as impactful as Maggie's. If you'd like to find out more about them, you can visit their website here or email them at RoyalFree@maggies.org
