Recently our office hosted Analiese as a work experience student for her Human Resource Management in Business course. Hosting work experience students is something that we have been really interested in getting involved with as the property industry isn’t an avenue that students often know much about, but offers really interesting career opportunities. Many of us have landed in our roles from wildly different backgrounds, not having previously considered property.
What do we all have in common? A passion that drives us to want to excel for our clients and change the way people think about agencies. All of us in our office feel very fortunate to have found a team that genuinely cares about its employees, gives back to the community, participates a great deal in charity events, and works very hard to get to know our clients on a personal level to make sure we can exceed their expectations. The whole office was really excited to finally get the opportunity to share this passion and expertise with a student who’s just starting out in the professional world!
Analiese had a very interesting story; she came from a background in semi-professional football and eventually developed an interest in property. During her stay with us, she spent some time with each department to get a sense of how work flows through our office, and how our departments collaborate to provide a tailored service for our clients that goes above and beyond the average agency.
She learned how our front desk is the heart and hub of the office, helping to guide our landlords, residents, and visitors the moment they call or walk in. She went on property viewings, and learned more than a thing or two about how to pair individual applicants and buyers with their future home-sweet-homes. Analiese spent time in our Property Management department, finding out how to keep tenants and landlords happy, regardless of what the weather and all other elements can throw at them. Our New Homes and Compliance team taught her how we go about making sure residents are both properly referenced and well-informed throughout the moving processes. Her last stop was accounting, where our Head of Accounts, Kyla, showed her just how important efficiency is in our day-to-day.
Analiese was a quick learner and put everyone she spent time with under the microscope with her questions, digging deep into why they do what they do and what keeps them motivated in their role. The feedback from our team has been overwhelming: hire her on! She asked the right questions, showed a tonne of enthusiasm and potential, and after working with her, one of our property managers was all too ready to hand her a job with us starting immediately!
We believe programs like this - those that get young people to explore their professional interests and allow them to ask as many questions as they like - are so important for future generations to be happy in their career choices. We love what we do, and we want to encourage those who feel as passionately about property as we do to explore their interests.
